I have a higher-quality copy of this video on my computer. When I have difficulty getting up in the morning, I actually play this video and it seems to actually help get me moving. I guess it’s no big surprise that a video about trying to make it to the freedom that comes at the end of the day helps me face the prospect of going to work!

I love the Vogues. “You’re the One” was another great song they recorded in a similar style. But where did that video come from? Was there an extended version of the opening sequence, or is this something that was stitched together unofficially?

Kind of an interesting series of events.

The video appeared at the top of the first episode of the second season. But it wasn’t the theme song until later (“Moon Over Parma” still was). Then, somewhere later in the second season, they cut it down for time. They also took out the footage with Lisa (the woman he’s dancing with) who was Drew’s girlfriend when the original video aired but had been dropped from the show by the time it became the opening sequence.

A couple episodes into the next season they did the same thing with an extended video for the song “Cleveland Rocks” and a truncated version of that video becoming the opening song and sequence immediately afterwards.

They ended up keeping that third song for the next several seasons until Crista Miller left the show, then they rotated between the songs with different (and far less catchy) versions of the song and different montage footage. I wish they’d done more of the videos, particularly after the cast change.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that. It’s been a long time.
