MegaChairI would never pay $3,000,000 for a house (much less a condo), nor do I have much desire to live in Kansas. But if these two things were indeed the case, I would be all over this. And not because I’m worried about a nuclear attack.

If altitude is why people in Utah have so much depression, wouldn’t things be even worse in Colorado? Oh wait, everyone there is too wasted to be depressed.

The “get me off your mailing list” paper was picked up by a so-called “predatory” journal, that is, the scientific-journal version of a vanity press. Another paper that the “predatory” journals picked up was one putatively authored by Maggie Simpson and Edna Krabappel. (I am a biologist who has to publish articles on at least a minimal level to keep my gig, so I have all KINDS of issues with the whole academic-publishing model and what it’s become. Most journals aren’t predatory, but it’s still a giant, awful game that I find hard to play.)
